Black passengers seen in the cheaper seats and a couple of bounty hunters attempt to arrest a white man, he shoots and kills then jumps/ falls out of train
Storyboard - Leavenworth - where civilisation ended and the Santa Fe Trail began…busy western town scenes. Men plan a route along the trail with a map. Woman dressed like a cowgirl appears and scolds her father and his hands about the way he runs his business. The farm hands show her their shopping – a mirror and ladies underwear

bibles loaded onto wagons as cavalry men ride up. Man sees woman and he and another man toss a coin over who will talk to her. Man attempt to propose to her. Another man comes along and breaks the moment. Men leave the town / hit the trail and they all sing / yodel Yipikaye Road to Santa Fe.
Storyboard - The Camp of John Brown, leader of the abolitionists whose raids are terrorising Kansas. Man dictates a letter to a young boy. Man arrives in the camp on a wagon.
The man who jumped the train arrives on horseback and scolded for cowardice by man who then has everyone kneel and pray .
Wagon train, soldiers and men discuss John Brown. Dialogue
Man's son pleads with his father not to attack the wagon train. Dialogue
Wagon train along and meets with man who receives the cases of bibles. Two men become suspicious and investigate. The bible boxes break open and contain guns.
A posse / men ride out of the hills and surround the wagon train. Everyone puts hands in the air. Man draws gun on man and he whips it out of his hand.
Shooting breaks out / gun fight. One band of men chases after the other. Gun fight, horses fall, men fall, very dramatic.
Two men ride along, dialogue. Wagon train along. Comic relief, break mirror.
Int military meeting. Man and woman question wounded boy. Woman nurses the sick boy.
Military orders given to ranked men on parade. Trumpet call to action. Woman and the boy talk more and the boy tells where his father is hiding.
Cavalry prepares to move out. Man and woman talk.
Man and woman kiss. They are interrupted again by man. They part.
Woman finds boy dead. Cavalry / army move out on horseback.
Hideout. Barrel of salt beef opened to reveal guns. Men talk tactics and argue over pay. Man looks uncomfortable.
The cavalry / army column is stopped on the road by two men with news.
Gvs of burned out town with women and children milling about. Cavalry / army rides in.
Night, Man gives a reading from the Bible. He makes the slaves free. They celebrate their freedom with a hymn.
Night at the army camp as two men discuss tactics.
Storyboard: the town of Palmyra, Kansas. Night street scene. Black people crowd as man shouts about joining John Brown. More street scene sand man goes into the barber. barber scenes. Man is brought to leader of rebels, they talk. Two men threaten the barber.
Night ext a hanging rope is set up. Noose placed around man's neck but he is rescued. Lots of gunfire ensues. The black slaves hiding in the barn watch in fear. Man moves them to a safer position. The barn is set on fire. Man tries to put it out.
Night the army rides in, more shots of the burning barn. Brown's men on horseback try to get the wagons moving out. The army are nearly upon them. Lots more shooting and horses jump over fences. More shots burning barn. Some of Brown's men ride away.
Men ride off into the night after Brown and his men. Black woman bandages man's leg.
Night, Man pleads to God by a campfire.
The Santa Fe railroad / railway line drives westwards. Leavenworth station as more tracks laid and plans for the railroad route discussed.
CU invitation to a party. Night ext Fort Leavenworth town hall, pan around as soldiers singing. Two men look for the woman. Cavalry men spit roast a cow.
Two men see woman in a window and pull her through it backwards. Man and woman kiss (the other man gives in).
Night old Indian fortune teller woman sits by campfire drawing in the dirt with a stick as the soldiers come to her for their fortunes - they hear some bad news then laugh.
Boston, night, int. Men discuss mustering an army to free the slaves.
Maryland, day, ext. Men discus plans at camp.
Washington DC night ext party arrivals. Cavalry men refused entry to party by black butler. They sneak in. Int party scenes. Men in dress uniform greet each other. Woman and joins them and introduces her blonde girlfriend to other man. They pair up and dance. More dancing. Cavalry man and blonde woman fall in love. She introduces him to her father. More dancing.
Two men talk about an impending battle, second man repeats story to group of men . Soldiers prepare to leave.
Harper's Ferry: Night: Man prepares for attack, cut telegraph wires. The men move out on foot and attack an army post and raid the arsenal.
Gvs of town as shooting breaks out.
Old man takes white flag out and he is shot and falls. Man issues orders and his men go out shooting. Daylight: ext: as man orders his men into the hills.
Int telegraph office as message received. Series of telegraphs read about man's movements.
Cavalry rides along. Int men argue, army approach. Doors locked, men take up siege positions in the fort. Cavalry rides into town. Man takes message into fort with a white flag. Cavalry surrounds fort. Reinforcements arrive, gunfire, horses and men fall and jumpover fences. Cannons fired, cus rifle fire / shooting.
Int fort as man shoots another man dead. The Cavalry break the defences and pile into the fort. Men fight. Ceasefire called.
GV gallows attended by the army as man hanged. Man makes speech on gallows.
CU train wheels turning on tracks and gv train along. Int train as all the soldiers and their women are married on board. Man and woman / bride and groom kiss. GV train along in countryside in the sunset.
