Various title cards explain the story up to now. The hillside explodes and starts a landslide but the gold train ride off unharmed. Zorro lassos his whip around a tree and swings away from the debris. Three of Del Oro’s men on horseback see Zorro. He rides off on horseback. Zorro meets his legion of men on horseback and explains what happened. Don Diego/Zorro is talking with Juarez next to a table piled up with gold bars from the gold train. Juarez is worried that people will discover that he is Zorro. Don Diego shows him how he pretends to be a fop to put people off the scent. They laugh. The councillors have a meeting including Don Diego. They claim that Zorro attacked the gold train. They agree that he is an outlaw and that a reward must be given for his capture. Don Diego tells the council that the reward should be higher and agrees that Zorro is an outlaw.
Two of the councillors’ men are riding horses. They think they spot Zorro hiding something under a rock. They find that it’s a cape and ride after the man, shooting. Good footage of a horse chase. They capture the man. Zorro and Ramon see a sign announcing the execution of the man. They go off to tell the legion. Night time. Zorro lights a flaming Z and rides off. Don Del Oro’s men see it and follow the legion. They see the legion. Zorro tells the legion that a man has been captured and that he has a plan.
The next day. The man is taken by procession from a building into a square to be executed. Zorro and Ramon are on the roof looking down. The councillor orders for his men to execute the man they think is Zorro. Zorro uses his whip to capture the councillors’ rapier and they drop bees’ nests down into the square. One of the legionnaires unties the man. Two men on horseback burst in and they all ride off safely. Good footage of Zorro and 2 others walking across the roof and jumping straight onto the backs of 3 horses, as the soldiers are attacked by bees.
Don Del Oro sits on his throne. He tells the Yaquis that he is going to destroy Zorro that night. They cheer. Del Oro’s men put out gunpowder underneath Zorro and his legionnaires’ secret meeting place. They light a candle that takes 2 hours to burn and leave it to set off the explosives. Don Diego’s house. Volita is saying to Don Diego/Zorro, his aunt and Ramon that she doesn’t think that Zorro is a bandit. Zorro and Ramon notice the signal, a flaming Z, outside the window beyond. They make up an excuse to leave. Don Diego is seen getting his Zorro costume.
The legionnaires ride towards their secret meeting place. Zorro spots a Yaquis medicine bag on the ground. Don Del Oro’s men watch as Ramon enters the secret meeting place. The legionnaires realise that they’ve been tricked. Zorro overhears Don Del Oro’s men saying that they’ve blocked the doors and that there’s gunpowder. The legionnaires try to leave to find Zorro but are shot at by Yaquis when they leave the meeting place. The flame is getting close to lighting the explosives. The men are trapped inside. Ramon has been shot and collapses. Zorro uses his horse to pull the door open and free the legionnaires. They escape. Zorro runs in to save Ramon. He goes up to the top of the building. The building explodes.
