French prisoners of war walking miserably along road, some carry stretchers, German prison camp, allied POWs leave hut with food, drinking soup and quite cheerful, mealtime on the ground of hut. INT hut with men and washing, various group shots. POWs march off to labour. POWs shovel gravel, bale hay, clear rubble.
Turkish Front. Soldiers in trench with camouflaged hats, wounded are collected by camel ambulance, camel carries off two wounded. Camel arrives at HQ and unloads. WS camels by stream. Camels unloaded of supplies.
French counter-attack at Verdun – November 1916
Troops along road in winter and through field, pan of area, GV fortress type building, pan to soldiers within. Soldiers salute officer, GVs ruins, Verdun statue in town.
Ws river and ruined buildings, slow track under river bridge, wobbly track through town. River track shot and cathedral in ruins INT and EXT. Soldiers amid ruins GVs terrain with smoke, desolation, barrel of gun firing, more bleak terrain with gun-smoke.
Terrain with patchy snow: men walk toward camera through valley, pan to rocks, officers walk in snow with sticks.
Gvs dugout. POV dugout and barbed wire, interior fort with soldiers entering v.dark. Christmas service inside cave, men leave cave and officers pose outside, snowy EXT Fort Douaumont. WA snowy terrain with soldiers in distance.
EXT cave entrance with sandbags, men with picks, man running by caves, explosions, soldiers running for cover.

POWs enter town watched by troops on roadside, CUs POWs. Top shot soldiers going through town after heavy rain, past ruins.
Mules being fed and loaded up, mules being led off. Line of artillery travel along country road past piles of shells, goods being pushed by hand along railway tracks, men pushing horse-drawn gun out of mud.
